Cover Me

Cover me is an exhibition proposal that is designed to be presented to audiences in one of the most prominent museums in France, The Louvre. This exhibition aims to educate western audiences on the styles and practices surrounding the wearing of Muslim veils and was placed in Paris, France due to the previous laws that restricted wearing full face-covering veils in public. This exhibition provides a platform for Muslim women to voice their stories and backgrounds, why they wear the veils, where they are worn, and how they wear them.
Most importantly this exhibition wants to give the women that wear the veils “a voice”, maybe anonymous, maybe not. Through this exhibition, The Louvre hopes to promote a civil social conversation about the 20th and 21st-century criticisms of Islam. This exhibition aims to spotlight the generalization of Muslim practices and traditions, focusing mainly on the wearing of the veil in public. The core mission is to make an effort to start a conversation in order to find a middle grown between Islam and the world.

Cover Me was created as graduate coursework for a museum controversies class. This project is displayed as an example of a schematic design. This project does not represent the views or ideas of the institution or artists featured.
